Patented Mining Claims are tracts of privately owned land that typically enjoy the same benefits as any other privately held property. Most of them were acquired from the Federal Government many years ago my mining a property and applying for a patent. A deed to the property was then issued by the government, and the property transferred from federally held to private ownership.
